I’M FREE

7 Nov

I was talking with some ladies this past weekend and during the conversation someone said to me, “you are so different now”.  Another lady chimed in and said “I know right. There is such a difference in you”.  One of our church members was standing beside me and said, “I guess I met the good Angela”.  I said, “the other Angela wasn’t that bad, but this Angela is FREE!!” Our conversation moved on to other things, but I couldn’t help dwelling on the things that had been said.

I am saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost, but I was bound.  I had chosen to let things, situations, people, and opinions keep me captive.  There is something in us that likes to be bound. It’s comfortable, we know what to expect.  We’re never disappointed. But God wants us to be free.

Several months ago after the Lord sent word through a friend, I decided to choose freedom.  Life is full of choices: what to eat, what to wear, what car to drive, what church to attend, who should I love, what should I let go.  For a long time I chose to be bound and then I would say, it’s time to get free.  So I went to the altar, let it go, and I would pick it back up as I walked out the door.  I was preaching, teaching, singing, and dancing…..bound.  The word God sent to me was simple, I was fearful, faking, and frustrated.  I WAS BOUND!!

One night I decided enough was enough.  I sat in my car after a trip to Wal-Mart and cried out to God.  I told Him I was tired and I wanted to be free.  I told Him I knew He had more for me and I couldn’t get there, in the state I was in.  I asked Him to fill every empty place in me.  I was turning EVERYTHING over to Him.  I asked Him to take every weight and heavy burden.  I stepped out of my car free.  I felt totally different, I’m not going to lie and say everyday has been easy, but everyday is a choice.  I choose every day to walk in freedom.

The Bible says who the Son sets free, is free indeed.  Regardless of the way things look if God sets you free, you are free.  You have to know you are free.  Freedom begins in the mind. If you can change the way a person thinks you can change their whole life. My pastor teaches faith isn’t what you see, it’s what you know.   I KNOW I’m free, I KNOW the difference in me.

Are you choosing to stay bound?  God is standing waiting, the choice is yours.  Freedom is waiting on YOU!!
